Nature, adventure and learning — every day
At Little Roos, our Forest School approach is woven into everyday life.
You don't need to be surrounded by a forest to experience the benefits of Forest School. For us, it's about giving children the freedom, time and opportunity to explore the natural world, develop confidence and independence, take appropriate risks, solve problems and learn through real experiences.
Our Forest School ethos is embedded throughout our provision — indoors, outdoors and within our local community.
From collecting leaves, sticks and natural treasures to digging, planting, watching insects, exploring weather and seasons, building dens and getting creative with natural materials, everyday experiences provide opportunities for children to learn through doing.
We embrace the idea that learning doesn't always have to happen sitting at a table.
Sometimes it happens in the mud.
Sometimes it happens under a tree.
Sometimes it happens while searching for a tiny insect or working out how to build something that won't fall down!
Although Little Roos doesn't have a forest on our doorstep, this doesn't limit our Forest School offer.
Our setting provides a natural, open-ended outdoor environment where children can explore, investigate and develop their skills. We also make use of our local community and green spaces, giving children opportunities to experience different natural environments beyond the nursery.
