The safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority.
Little Roos follows all Ofsted requirements and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. We ensure that:
- Qualified staff are on site at all times.
- Team members hold Paediatric First Aid qualifications.
- Staff receive ongoing early years training and professional development.
- Robust safer recruitment procedures are followed for all staff, volunteers and students.
- We maintain appropriate staffing ratios at all times to ensure children receive safe, high-quality care.
Yes. Little Roos will be registered with Nottinghamshire County Council to offer funded childcare for eligible families, including:
- 15 hours funded childcare
- 30 hours funded childcare for eligible working parents
- Working Parent Entitlements
- Universal Credit childcare support (where applicable)
Funding is subject to eligibility and Government guidance.
Eligible funding starts from the term or entitlement period after your child reaches the qualifying age (currently from the month after they turn 9 months for eligible working families). We recommend checking your eligibility on the Government website before applying.
We stretch funded hours across 48 weeks of the year rather than term time only. This means families receive a consistent allocation of funded hours each week, allowing children to attend throughout the year.
Example:
If your child is entitled to 30 funded hours per week during term time, these hours are stretched across 48 weeks. Instead of receiving 30 hours each week for 38 weeks, your child would receive approximately 23.75 funded hours each week across 48 weeks.
If your child attends three full days (30 hours) in a week:
- Approximately 23.5 hours would be covered by funding.
- The remaining 6.5 hours would be charged at £7.90 per hour.
- Any optional consumable charges would be added separately if you choose to take them.
Your invoice will clearly show:
- Funded hours used
- Any additional chargeable hours
- Optional consumables
- Any other applicable fees
Please note that funded hours cannot be banked or carried over to another week if they are not used.
Our current fees are:
- £79 per full day
- £7.90 per additional hour where attendance exceeds the funded hours available.
All invoices are fully itemised.
We offer an optional £10 per day consumables package which includes:
- Healthy meals
- Snacks
- Sun cream
- Additional Forest School resources
- Enrichment activities and materials
Families may opt out of this charge if they wish to provide their own meals and snacks and meet the relevant requirements.
If you wish to pause the consumables package during an extended holiday, we require a minimum of four weeks' notice.
Yes. We accept Tax-Free Childcare payments.
At present we offer year-round places rather than term-time-only places.
As a new, small nursery, this allows us to provide consistency for children, families and our staff team throughout the year.
We currently prioritise full-day places, although half-day sessions may be available in certain circumstances, for example where families are using Universal Credit funded childcare or where availability allows.
Additional or ad hoc sessions may be available, subject to staffing levels and statutory adult-to-child ratios. Please speak to the nursery team if you need extra sessions.
To help us maintain stable routines and provide the highest quality care, children are expected to attend on the same agreed days and times each week. If you need to change your child's attendance pattern, we ask for at least four weeks' notice. Changes are subject to availability.
If your child is unwell, please refer to our Illness and Exclusion Policy before bringing them to nursery. This helps us protect all children and staff from the spread of infection.
Fees remain payable during your child's absence, including:
- Illness
- Family holidays
- Other non-attendance
This is because your child's place remains reserved.
No fees are charged during our planned four weeks of annual closure.
However, fees remain payable on Bank Holidays, as these are included within your annual place.
We encourage all families to visit before registering. This gives you the opportunity to meet our team, explore the nursery, ask questions and see whether Little Roos is the right fit for your child. Visits can be arranged by contacting us through our website, by email or by telephone.
To formally register your child, complete the enrolment form. You'll be asked to pay a £50 holding fee when your place is confirmed.
Our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and is built around each child's individual interests, strengths and stage of development. Our experienced team observes children's learning, plans exciting next steps and works closely with families to help every child become confident, curious and ready for school.
Our team includes qualified early years practitioners, a qualified teacher and staff with Forest School qualifications. All practitioners receive ongoing training and professional development to ensure the highest standards of care and education. All staff are appropriately vetted through safer recruitment procedures, and Paediatric First Aid trained staff are always on site.
